Virtual Arkansas AMI and Information

1.    Encourage students to keep working.

a.    I know under these circumstances that school may not seem important, but these circumstances WILL CHANGE, and we don’t want our students to suffer once they return to a normal routine.  They need to know that these days off are NOT SNOW DAYS, and they still need to be doing their work with or without us.

1.    Encourage Seniors to turn in their work.

a.    Seniors still need to be able to graduate once they return to school.  It is best that seniors do not procrastinate or waste time, or it may result in their graduation being unnecessarily delayed.

b.    I know there are questions coming in about how to complete the quizzes, but at this time I do not have a response. We will have more specific guidelines the week after Spring Break in regards to that.

c.    Seniors can now move through the assignments without date restrictions. They still have to complete lessons and assignments in the order listed, but once an item is completed, the next will be accessible.

1.    AMI packets contain similar content to the modules, lessons, and assignments in the online course.

a.    Even if students do not have access to the internet, they NEED to complete the AMI packets so that they will not be too far behind when they return to school. The AMI packets even contain readings that directly relate to the assignments in the online course.

1.    Zoom will be open.

a.    I will still have my Zoom open on the allotted days in the announcements so that students can come in and ask questions and get help when needed.

b.    Students can email me and make an appointment to Zoom. Emailing me will be the best way to contact me if they need help during our “Spring Break.

1.    Zoom can be downloaded to students’ COMPUTERS and PHONES.

a.    They love using their phones so much and this will give them an excuse to do so. All they have to do is search for the Zoom app in the app store, download it to their phone, and then sign in. They will then go to their course and click the Zoom link, like normal.

b.    Zoom.us - Go to this link and click “Sign up, it’s Free” to create an account.

1.    Canvas Courses can be accessed on a phone.

a.    Students can also download Canvas to their phones to access their course.  They can do everything on their phone that they could do on their computer, but it may be slightly harder to complete assignments on a phone simply because of a smaller screen and slightly different features.
