I graduated from the University of the Ozarks in 2007 with a Bachelor or Arts degree in communication and a minor in marketing. Two years later, I was accepted into the Non-Traditional Licensure Program through the Arkansas Department of Education. In 2018, I graduated from the University of Central Arkansas with a Master of Science in School Counseling.
Bachelor of Arts, Communication
Teacher Certification: 7-12 English Language Arts, Speech, Journalism, K-12 School Counseling
Master of Science, School Counseling
I started teaching at Lamar High School in 2013. While employed at Lamar, I have taught Pre-AP English 10, Pre-AP English 9, English 12, and Journalism/Yearbook. This year, I will be teaching Pre-AP English 10, as well as acting as Guidance Counselor for one period each day.
I began my teaching career at Subiaco Academy. I then spent one year at Two Rivers School District before moving back home to Johnson County and finding employment at Lamar High School. Prior to teaching, I spent two years in public relations/marketing/advertising. While I cannot imagine a career outside of education now, I am very thankful for the time I spent in the business world. I learned valuable skills and gained experiences that I feel make me a more effective teacher today.
In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, reading, spending time with my family, completing home projects, and playing with my pets. My husband and I enjoy “Jeeping” on the weekends as well as binge-watching Netflix whenever we get the chance.
